History and Values
Founded in 2013 by local residents, under the leadership of Rev. Otis G. Byrd, the purpose of our committee has been to engage in charitable and educational efforts, to organize and conduct memorial events in Holly Springs, NC, and to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. We strive to educate the public of the role Martin Luther King Jr. played in the civil rights history of the country, and to promote pride and unity in the African-American community in Holly Springs, NC.

What We Do
Supporting Education
Funding scholarships, school supplies, and educational resources for children who dream of a brighter future.
Feeding Our Community
We believe in helping our neighbors in difficult times. Our organization partners with Meals on Wheels to deliver hot meals to our elderly neighbors. We also conduct food drives to support our local food banks.
Black History
Sharing the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. begins with honoring the significance of Black history in our community as well as the nation and using those lessons to work towards a more just and equitable future.

Our Approach
The Holly Springs MLK Jr. Committee brings the community together by donating time, talents, and resources to support local charities and by organizing meaningful events that celebrate Black History and uplift shared values.
